Editorial Policy
Sources
We write from primary sources: judgments and orders published by courts, Acts and rules on India Code, the Gazette of India, and official notifications and circulars from ministries and regulators. Where we learn about a development from a news report, we read the original document before writing, and we do not reproduce other publishers’ articles.
Review before publication
Every article is reviewed by the LawMantras editorial team. Nothing is published until it has been checked against the source. Drafts may be prepared with the help of software tools, but a person writes, edits and approves every published article.
Accuracy
Summaries state what a court or authority decided, in plain language, without adding our own opinion to the holding. Where we add context or analysis, we say so. Dates, case numbers and section numbers are checked against the source.
Independence
LawMantras does not accept payment for coverage. Advertising is served automatically and is kept separate from content. We do not promote any advocate or law firm.
Corrections and updates
When the law changes or we find an error, we update the article, change its “Updated” date and, for material errors, add a note explaining the correction. See the corrections policy.
